How it works
You choose the four-pack and how often you'd like it: every 3 months or every 12 months. The first box is paid for at checkout and posted like any other order. After that, each delivery is charged on its billing date to the payment method you used, then posted.
Your price per delivery is set on the day you subscribe and stays there. If it ever has to change, we'll email you at least 14 days beforehand, and you can cancel before it applies.
To skip a delivery, pause, or stop altogether, use the link in your order confirmation email or your account, or just email hello@thebarebrush.com.au and we'll do it for you. A change made before a billing date applies to that delivery. One that has already been charged is posted as normal.
Choosing how often
The 3-monthly plan sends four brushes every three months. The 12-monthly plan sends four once a year. Pick the one closer to how often the brushes in your bathroom really get changed.
For reference, the Australian Dental Association's advice is to replace your toothbrush every 3 months.
If the next box would arrive before you need it, skip it before its billing date, from the link in your confirmation email or by emailing us.
What it costs, next to buying once
The subscription takes 10% off the four-pack, which brings each brush to $10.12. On the 3-monthly plan that's four deliveries, or $161.96, over a year. On the 12-monthly plan it's one delivery at $40.49.
If the price per brush is what matters most, compare the eight-pack bought once, at $10.00 a brush, with $10.12 on the subscription. The subscription is for the other reason: each box turns up when its delivery is due, and nobody has to remember to reorder.
What arrives in each box
Four BARE toothbrushes, each with horse hair bristles woven into a bamboo handle. There's no nylon in the head and no glue. One small aluminium staple holds the weave. It doesn't compost, so when a brush is finished, take the staple out before any composting attempt.
The hair is a by-product of routine grooming and goes through high-temperature processing before the brush is made.

The first couple of times using the brush felt a little weird, but once I got used to it, I really started to like it. Having a lot more bristles creates noticeably more drag, which means you have to apply a bit more force when pushing — but I actually really like that. I honestly can’t see myself ever going back to petroleum-based plastic and nylon brushes. This feels like a much better alternative, and I’m really happy with it.
We are not going back to nylon. Not missing the plastic.
The toothbrush is nice, attractive and practical.
Who it’s not for
- Anyone who needs a vegan toothbrush. Horse hair is an animal product.
- Children's mouths. There's one adult size.
- Anyone who hasn't tried a horse hair brush yet and isn't sure. The feel is different from nylon, and feel is personal, so a single brush first is a sensible start.

No. Subscriptions are for the four-pack only, every 3 months or every 12 months. The single brush and the eight-pack are one-time purchases.
03Do discount codes work on a subscription?
No. Discount codes can't be used on subscriptions. The subscription price is already 10% under the four-pack's one-time price.
